The carbon footprint of the village
What is WPC doing?
The WPC has undertaken an assessment of its assets and activities, and calculated its carbon footprint in 2021. Interested to see the results? It shows that the areas WPC can focus on, to reach a carbon neutral footprint by 2030, are primarily associated with lighting.
What can we do?
But what about the rest of us, members of the community of Witchford? It is difficult for the WCAG to calculate (quantify) or even estimate with any accuracy the carbon footprint of our village. What we can do, however, is encourage all of us to use a carbon footprint calculator to estimate our individual carbon footprint.
There are a wide range of carbon footprint calculators freely available on the internet. We’ve picked one – a really simple calculator, which can be completed online in under 5 minutes. The WWF calculator gives a high level assessment of the split of the carbon footprint for your household across a number of categories, such as travel. You also have the option of anonymously sharing your results with other members of the community – so we can build a picture as to which initiatives WPC and WCAG could best support to help each of us work towards a carbon neutral society.
Have a go – you might learn something new, and also identify which areas to focus change on to have the greatest impact on your carbon footprint!
